CH 12 | MAKING SPACE FOR HER

Jordyn and Pauline spend the night at Mega’s mansion, where luxury, lust, and looming danger collide.

It wasn’t often that Mega brought home houseguests. Not even if it was just for a quick fuck. He would either stay at their place or get a hotel room because he didn’t trust bringing anyone where he rested his head.

“GODDAMN!” Pauline exclaimed from the backseat. “You rich or something!? Look at this house.”

Jordyn sat in the passenger seat with her mouth and eyes stretched wide open. She knew Mega had money after he bought the gown from her store, but seeing his house really confirmed it for her.

“I’m doing alright for myself, I think.” He put his Jeep in park and stepped out to open the door for Pauline.

“You doing way more than alright," she said. "I ain’t never laid eyes on a house this big. Ever. What kind of business are you into? Got a damn entrance gate and everything. You got security?”

“I can get some if that’ll make you more comfortable," he chuckled.

“Ma,” Jordyn rolled her eyes. “Can we just get inside? Please.”

Mega handed Jordyn his keys and told her the code to shut off the alarm for the front door while he grabbed their bags from the trunk. Watching her walk up the stairs that led to the door made him feel like they were a couple who just got home from partying or something.

When it came to women, Mega liked to take his time. So, it was crazy to him that he was so comfortable with Jordyn. There was so much chemistry between them it made him a little nervous. He didn’t want her to think she was a rebound for Mila, and he didn’t want himself falling for her too quick either. She damn sure made it easy, though.

“You get everything?” Jordyn asked, waiting for him at the front door.

“Yeah.” He frowned at the sight of them not making themselves comfortable. “Y’all gonna walk in and make yourself at home? Or just stand here looking crazy?”

“Well, I don’t know, Mega," Jordyn laughed. "We’ve never been here before. Where do you want us tonight?”

“I was thinking about putting y’all in the guesthouse. So you have some privacy. It’s up to y’all, though. Just let me know what you wanna do.”

“Un uh.” Pauline quickly interrupted. “I wanna sleep right here with you. After those boys ran up in my house with guns not too long ago, I’d feel more comfortable being close to a man.”

“Ok.” Mega laughed. “That’s cool. I’ll put y’all back here then.”

He led them down the long hallway towards his guest rooms. His space was a huge eight bedroom mansion with a huge loft.

The loft area, which he didn’t count as one of the bedrooms, was where he had his kings room laid out. Big California king bed on a platform. Huge flatscreen TVs on two walls. A walk-in closet the size of a regular queen’s suite, and the bathroom was designed like one from a medieval king’s castle.

He had a tattoo studio set up in one of the extra rooms, a game room, and an office. Every other room was set up for sleeping. Not that he ever had guests sleeping over. But in the event that he did, they would have been comfortable.

“This is a beautiful house," Jordyn said. "Seriously. I would've never guessed you lived in something like this."

“Yes, it is." Pauline took a good look around. “Very beautiful. Reminds me of my old life."

“Thank you.” Mega flicked on the light in one of the rooms. “I think this is the biggest out of the guestrooms. I don’t know if y’all wanna share a room or sleep separately. If so,” he went to the room across the hall and flicked on that light too. “One of you can sleep in here.”

“Can I smoke in here?” Pauline asked.

“Yeah," he chuckled. "I smoke in here. That’s no problem.”

“Ok, good. Jordyn may want her own room then. She doesn’t like my smoking.”

He gave Jordyn a playful look and told her she needed to hit one of their blunts to relax. He was only joking, but Pauline thought it might have been a good idea to help her wind down.

“Ok. Well, I’ll let y’all get settled while I start on these burgers. There’s a bathroom in this room," he pointed to the room Pauline chose, “and there’s a bathroom right here up the hall. Towels in the bathroom closet. Soap, toilet paper, and whatever else you might need is in there too.”

“Thank you, young man," Pauline gently tugged on his hand.

“No problem, Ms. Pauline. I'ma go get these burgers started.”

Jordyn’s eyes were so full of lust for him. So was the love canal that trickled between her thighs. She wished her mama was somewhere else so she could give Mega a taste of her love, but that was wishful thinking. It seemed like every time she had a chance to take a leap, her mother stood in her way.

“You done hit a goldmine, huh, baby?” Pauline whispered to Jordyn.

“He is a very sweet guy.” She smiled.

“Yeah, he is, but what are we gonna do about these men you got running up in my house with guns?”

“I don’t know, Ma. Mega said he would take care of it, so we’ll see.”

Pauline felt like she knew exactly what that meant. Though she didn’t ask questions, she wanted to know they would be protected for sure. Even though she was no stranger to the street life and the drug game herself, it had been a long time since she had to deal with the consequences of it.

“I'ma go take a shower," Jordyn said. "You do the same so you can take your meds and get you some rest.”

"Okay, baby. Will do."

Over in the kitchen, Mega had the hamburger meat seasoned, sectioned into patties, and ready to put on the grill section of his stove. He also had onions, tomatoes, and peppers chopped. Lettuce leaves were chilling in the fridge, and all the condiments he thought they might like were set aside on the table.

He planned on rolling up a fat ass blunt when it was all said and done, and he knew Pauline would be doing the same. So, he took out some liquor, fresh fruit to chop up, and ice cubes to make Jordyn a frozen drink. She needed it after the scare they had that night.

“You got it smelling good in here.”

She came around the corner to see what he had going on in the kitchen and smiled when she saw how organized he was.

“Oh yeah?" he chuckled. "I’m doing a lil sumn-sumn, huh?”

“I guess so.”

“Can you come flip these for me while I blend up your drink?”

“You trying to get me drunk or something?"

Jordyn wasn't much of a drinker, but the way their night had gone, she knew she needed something to help her sleep that night.

“Nah," Mega said. "But I’m fina smoke and you don’t smoke, so I didn’t want you to feel left out. There’s a pool and jacuzzi out there if you wanna kick back.”

“I’m fine conversing with you for now. Your friend wants to know if she can eat in the room. She’s tired and still shook up a lil bit.”

“Yeah, that’s straight. The burgers should be done in a second. You gotta fix it up for her. Lettuce and stuff in the fridge.”

“Look at this!” Jordyn admired his see-through fridge with all the latest amenities. “I love this, oh my God! I've only seen stuff like this on TV."

Mega was a guy who liked nice things. Especially when it came to his home. He wasn’t really a flashy kind of dude in public, but when you saw him, you knew his standards were set for the stars.

“What are we gonna do about Polo and these guys?” Jordyn asked while she dressed up her mom's burger.

“We?” Mega frowned.

“Yes. We. This isn’t entirely your fault.”

“Is it any of my fault?” he joked. "I mean, it is your boyfriend who got into Mila's ear."

“Yes! What you mean?” Jordyn laughed. “It’s probably more your fault than it is mine. Both of them hate you, while only one of them has a problem with me. Well, until I met you."

Mega joked about their issue at hand, but he was locked in and focused. If he had to kill somebody to keep the peace and make their lives normal again, he wouldn't hesitate. Especially if it meant keeping Jordyn safe.

“Alright, I’ll take that," he said. "But shit, what you think I'ma do? I'ma go see about him. And he can either step down or lay down. His choice.”

“Mega.” Jordyn tilted her head and stared at him for a second. “I don’t want you getting in trouble. Or hurt. Is this really the way things have to be?”

“Relax.” He placed a piece of pineapple up to his lips and sucked it in seductively. “I know what I’m doing.”

“Whatever.” She rolled her eyes and continued to dress the burgers.

When Jordyn came back from delivering Pauline's burger and requested glass of orange juice, Mega was already sitting at the island stuffing his face. He had his shirt off, showing off a pair of well rounded shoulders, buffed up pecs, and arms that looked like he’d done a bid. He was so fine, Jordyn could barely keep her eyes off him.

“Is your mom ok?” he asked.

“Yeah, she’s good. Just took her meds and stuff, so after she smokes, I’m sure she’ll be out like a light.”

“Okay. What about you? You ok? Need anything?”

“No, thank you. I’m alright. Just a little anxious.”

“Mm!” He hopped up when he remembered her drink. “Taste this. I didn’t make it too strong. It’s got mango, pineapple, strawberry, a little coconut, and banana. Milk and Patron.”

The first sip tasted like paradise. Jordyn didn’t know if it was because the drink was really good or because she really needed it. Either way, she loved it and planned to finish the whole glass.

“I really appreciate you letting us stay here tonight," she said.

Waving her off, Mega took a gulp of his juice and shook his head. “Don’t thank me. Y’all good. Don’t worry about it.”

They talked more and more while they finished eating. Jordyn told him all he needed to know about her and Polo, and he told her what she wanted to know about him and Mila.Hearing him talk about the bond he and Mila once shared intimidated her a little bit.

He made it clear that Mila was dead to him, but so did Polo at one point in time. And look how that turned out. Jordyn did feel like Mega took things more seriously than Polo, but she knew she could never be so sure when the heart was involved.
